Jay Leno Threatens Viewing Public: ‘Primetime Had It Coming’

July 23, 2009 by Classic Cars · Leave a Comment

It's no secret that there's been some considerable erosion of NBC's late-night lineup ever since Conan O'Brien took over the reins of the Tonight Show back on June 1. Needless to say, Napoleonic NBC honcho Jeff Zucker and his impeccably eyebrowed sidekick Ben Silverman are running out of fingernails to chew as they white-knuckle their way through the next seven weeks of a Jay Leno–less lineup. So, in an attempt to keep Leno top-of-mind, NBC has just launched a brand-spanking-new website with

5 Stars my classic legendary muscle cars
on viewing all six dvds i was very impressed on the knowledge that dennis cage has on all the vehicles being an owner of a 1975 dodge dart sport hang ten i must admit im more a mopar nut the information i have gained from the 1968 hemi dart has been very useful in my pursuit of the history of the dodge dart and the plymouth superbird and cuda have been long favourites of mine in closing i honestly say that the whole collection is worth the money and if you are an american car owner or enthusiat you will enjoy all the episodes i can highly recommend this set

5 Stars an excellent muscle car DVD box
as a muscle car fan you must buy this DVD box. extreme good picture and sound quality. sadly the phrase “what a blast” starts to bore because dennis says this to nearly every car or show he presents. i prefer the reminder “don’t crush ‘em - restore them.”.

5 Stars Buy it and you won’t be disappointed
If Yenko and Shelby, Hemi and Six Pack aren’t just words for you, if you know that barracuda and sting ray not necessary must be fishes, if the sight of ‘61 New Yorker cruising down the shady alley simply takes your breath away - this DVD set is for you.

For here you will see some of the rarest, meanest muscle cars of the 60s and the early 70s, beautiful, beautiful boulevard cruisers of the fifties and even some fabulous pre-war cars, all in top-notch condition. The proud owners will tell you interesting stories about their beauties, and Mr. Dennis Gage did the job well asking them good questions every time.

The cameraman (or men?) did the job well too picking the most stunning angles and showing the unique features of every car. The stereo sound is five-star, and the quality of picture (video) is between very good and excellent.

But this DVD set doesn’t offer just nice footage of legendary cars; it gives you the rare opportunity to see every car in action, and some of them even in very hot action. It allows you to hear the deep breathing of mighty engines and see gorgeous sceneries by the way. That’s when it’s time to buckle up!

And if this still is not enough for you, every disc has fantastic extra features like interviews with such legends as Carroll Shelby or David Holls, interesting video essays on famous designers and engineers, the biggest car shows reports, etc., etc. The endless source of video information! In fact, you can watch this wonderful DVD set as a video book that has discs instead of chapters!

In other words, this set could be the excellent choice for any muscle car or classic car lover. Just buy it and you won’t be disappointed. That’s for sure!

McDonald’s gets a new clown and then some, thanks to NBC

July 14, 2009 by Classic Cars · Leave a Comment

When NBC said Jay Leno's new prime-time show would be a willing home for advertiser pitches, it wasn't kidding. The custom-created set's nearly as big as an airplane hangar, with plenty of room for Leno to drive his beloved classic cars, and presumably a sponsor's, on stage. He's likely to do live commercials, a tactic that's both a throwback to TV's early days and one used in current daytime chat shows. Now, NBC is partnering with McDonald's to promote The Jay Leno Show with the launch of

Jay Leno’s Brilliant Plan to Save NBC

July 7, 2009 by Classic Cars · Leave a Comment

For his 10 p.m. talk show this fall, Jay Leno's new stage is apparently being built large enough to occasionally accommodate pieces from the host's massive collection of classic cars. NBC thinks this will make his show the place to advertise automobiles on TV. Before you start laughing, the Hollywood Reporter notes that such a strategy worked in the fifties — just like the concept of advertising on television! 1 Star not worth it
This book was really a waste of money. It was not very interesting and didn’t really tell you much about the actual garages or collections.

It also fell apart an hour into reading it.

The form wouldn’t process without me adding a star so I added the lowest I was allowed it actually isn’t worth any!

4 Stars Good overall read
This book was a good read, learning some history of the collector as well as the automobiles housed in these garages. Would have liked to seen more overall photos of the space, but was a great book to learn how cars can be considered pieces of artwork. These garages represent a passion for automobiles and Phil Berg captures it beautifully.

5 Stars Ultimate Garages
Book was used and it was in excellent shape. Looks new except for a minor scratch on the cover. I’m very pleased.

3 Stars Ultimate Garages I
This book isn’t exactly what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a book about showing different garages based on their architect’s design as well as how the garages were equipped. The book does touch on that, but it is more of a “Ultimate Collection” book as it refers to car collection and their owners. That in itself is great, but I really wanted to see different styles of garages with in depth detail about the design and build features so I could think about designing and building my own dream garage.

I can read about car collections and their owners almost anywhere, but a book on garage design would be unique…this book isn’t that so if that’s what you’re looking for, keep looking.

5 Stars Ultimate Garages (Motorbooks Classic) by Phil Berg
A well written and must have book for any “car guy”. Garages are becoming a living space for many homes and this book shows some of the best along with great cars.

5 Stars JAY LENO IN A DIFFERENT SPOTLIGHT
My husband and I both like to go to car shows. We really enjoy the old cars; they’re so interesting, unique and fascinating. Jay has a vast knowledge of all of his automobiles and presents them well. He goes into details about each one. It’s really a great DVD and lots of fun to watch. He even takes some of the cars out of his garage and drives them around for a while. It’s quite a sight to see them on the highway. I think people will really be surprised when they watch it.

5 Stars Awesome!
Simply the best collection of cars from a someone who truly gets what it means to be a car collector.

5 Stars It’s hard to imagine owning 80 cars!
After reading a review of this DVD in the Orlando Sentinel, I knew it was perfect for my brother. He’s a car nut too, though he doesn’t have the money to own 80 cars. Leno also has classic motorcycles including a jet-powered one. The video is 100 minutes and gives you a look inside his personal collection.

You’ll see a 1909 Stanley Steamer, a 1930 Duesenberg and a 1955 Buick Roadmaster, plus lots more.

Recommended for car lovers.
